Before we answer the question saying that does Adal ego bigger than the Somaliland’s independence? Adal Empire is the oldest Muslim empire in the Somali speaking regions – and its capital city of the Empire was Zeila – Zeila (Saylac) is the contemporary source of identity of the current Awdal societies from Saylici folklore dance to Ahmed Gurey heroism.
The people of Somaliland must accept the fact that there will be no Somaliland nation unless we all realize, to us, Adal Republic is more important than Somaliland.
Somaliland was enjoying a relative peace and what some people call ceasefire between tribal factions – the area did not move forward what so-ever since the declaration of the independence in 1991. It seems that the people were congratulating themselves simply because there is no active war between them. The emption is low if this is what the nation want, just ceasefire!
There is no national unity. People do not advocate unity they love to be called sub-clans. The weaker ones can hide behind the crowd while the unsatisfied and the intellectuals choose a different bath. For instance, in the case of the well educated Adal citizens. It became a way of life to voice down the separatism.
It is very difficult to close the gap between the Adal scholars and the population. People may see the relative stability as a nation while the majority of the people may see it as a decrease of hostility between the people.
Current Somaliland leaders do not have a plan to grasp the entire nation. They could not even break down the tribal barriers between the east and the well educated western people of Adal.
Why Somaliland recognition is taking longer than we all anticipated? Why Hargeisa people shamefully demonstrated that they do not even want their fellow Borame citizens to have an access to water drilling rig?
Hargeysans (Eastern people) are the masters of allusions and Boramawies (Western People) are the producers of chaotic symphony orchestra - Borame chooses positive attitude toward any incidents while Hargeysa always loves to exaggerate the matter from the most favorable fairy tail of SNM liberation to the Somaliland’s failing independence dream if continuous this way. Somali translation: In this context SNM liberation fairy tail means: Xoreyntii SNM waa sheeko xariiro aad hargeysa looga jecel yahay.
Therefore, there will be no compromise and understanding between the two people unless the current generation disappears.
The current leaders of Awdal must accept the blame of passiveness and North Western region players must stop the spread of the nonsense violence.
It may sound sarcastic when we are talking about passiveness and voilence, but it is fact that where we live in is Africa and the people we are dealing with are Somalis;
The most of Somalis are the most arrogant people on the face of the earth; they pay attention when they see fear and strong opposing party. Otherwise they love to victimize the unprotected and the innocent.
Finally, for the record, We, Adallanders, wish Dahir Rayale will one day leave office and get his own independence from this hostile environment. Then Adallanders’ near future leaders will deal with the eastern party as they see it fit.
To answer the Adal ego question, Adal ego is bigger than Somaliland independence itself, but the only way to move forward is to have serious public education and to advocate co-existence. Healthy minded people must be neutral, but we all make mistakes.
In summery, the inevitable truth teaches us this:
Our people can no longer distinguish right from wrong because of tribal blindness. Prioritizing is an important asset to have as a society – the journey to achieve feasible goal together will materialize, if the region is ready to grow older from the cheap political tactics. First, the leaders must act responsibly. Appeasing one party will never turn the Uma to realistic rationales. We must admire an authenticity rather then looking back controversial heroes. The public enemy number one is the lack of education, narrow mindedness and arrogance. Public must worry about the future not the horrible past.
Grudges and bitterness will tear the population apart – what we have is important than what we may expecting. Each one of us is an important human being; Respect is honorable gift and it is the only way possible to succeed.
We must know our partiality and we have to find how to deal with it.

You are very very behind my Friend. Calling for Qabiil and going back to the 90s will never work. I don’t know what are your intentions but this story will have a market 14 years ago but i’m sorry to let you know it is too late.
The same few figures who are behind the demonstrations in Hargeisa are those who are doing the same in Borama and i have to say you are one of them but you failed, completely failed.
Sool, Sanaag, Awdal and Hargeisa chose to be one thing, that is SOMALILAND. Elections were held and people chose their leaders. Voting was held and people voted for their constitution. That is all. Thank God we have security forces who are dealing with such ill-fated operations day in day out.
Congratulations to the police and military forces in Hargeisa who crashed the failed operation and thanks to those forces who dispersed those in Borama. Somaliland is and will be one, only one no matter how hard you and your likes try to differentiate the people and use Qabiil lines to create problems.
No one in Somaliland wants to live in Mugadishu-like country. If you live in the west then we have women, children, elders living inside the country who wants to go for education, make a better future and develop their country. If you can survive in the west then they want to survive here too. They deserve to live just like you want to.
Instead of writing such propoganda, you better waste your time with more useful articles and activities proposing solutions to the socio-economic problems facing our society in Somaliland and particularly in Awdal region. You can come up with useful projects and give the people opportunity to live better.
